Who We Are...

The REEFsponsibles is an international network within the dive industry, dedicated to marine wild life conservation and promoting community participation that is profitable and can sustain itself.

OUR MISSION – To sustain and protect the worlds marine ecosystems by working alongside dive industry leaders to empower local youth through educational programs funded by responsible tourism.

The REEFsponsibles are working with dive operators to ensure divers enjoy an unforgettable experience, whilst creating a positive effect on the local environment and the communities that reside there.

How it began...

Who would have guessed the search for polar bears and humpback whales in Tricia’s home country of Canada would have inspired such an idea. After a combined ten years plus living and diving as PADI Instructors in South East Asia, we developed a strong passion and appreciation for all the world has to offer; which can sometimes lead to drastic measures. By taking a step back from the industry in Asia it seemed clear to us exactly what was needed. A chance for people to enjoy world class diving, and also be safe in the knowledge they are making a contribution to the well being of the marine environment, and the communities which live within these so often impoverished diving paradises.
After talking with many of our friends and co-workers in the diving industry we came up with a list of those dive operators who stuck out in our minds as having a genuine concern for the environments they call home. This network is comprised of those operators who have committed to providing an unforgettable dive holiday experience which can tread lightly on the environment.
